Coffee Bean Flavour

This locally roasted decaf coffee bean is light and rich with a beautiful crema.  It is roasted to produce a dark body with hints of spice.

The Vibe Coffee decaf coffee bean undergoes an eco-friendly mountain water decaffeination process which avoids the use of harmful chemicals for caffeine extraction.  It is common for decaffeinated coffee beans to be created via a chemical extraction process which strips the caffeine from the coffee beans.  This does not happen with the Vibe Coffee decaffeinated coffee beans.

The Decaffeination Process – the “Mountain Water Process” – how it works:

The green coffee beans (raw coffee beans not yet roasted) are sent for decaffeination at a Mountain Water facility in Veracruz, Mexico.

This facility uses a unique non-chemical decaffeination process.  This process uses the clear waters from the highest mountain in Mexico, the Pico de Orizaba, to gently remove the caffeine from the green beans.  This is compared to the chemical process which uses chemicals like ethyl acetate and methylene chloride (used in paint thinner).

This is how the Mountain Water Process works:

Step 1: Removing the caffeine from the green coffee beans

The green coffee beans are immersed in water to remove the caffeine content.   Once this step is done you are left with green coffee beans that no longer have caffeine and water that holds all the caffeine.  But this water (which now has the caffeine) has also extracted the aromas and flavours from the coffee beans.  So another step is taken.

Step 2:  Separating caffeine and the coffee flavours

This water (now holding the caffeine and flavour/aromas) undergoes its own step to separate the caffeine from any of the aromatics and flavours that also came out during the caffeine extraction step.  This process results in two types of water…

  1. Water with only the caffeine content
  2. Water with the coffee bean aromatics and flavours

The water with the caffeine content is then removed.

Step 3: Putting the flavour and aroma back into the decaf coffee beans

The green coffee beans are then placed in a special tank where it is immersed in the caffeine-free water which contains the aromatics and flavours.  This step allows the green coffee beans to reabsorb all of its original natural flavours.

This is how the green coffee beans become 99.9% caffeine-free but retains its original flavour characteristics of the coffee beans is preserved and protected.

Step 4: Decaf Coffee Beans are dried 

The beans are then dried to the required moisture content prior to them being shipped to Melbourne for roasting.

That’s it!

This Mountain Water Process is patented and is also organically certified in accordance with the regulations of OCIA, NOP and JAS.   It is also Kosher certified.

Why are single-way valves in coffee bean bags important?

All Vibe Coffee Bean products have single-way valves.  For Vibe Coffee, it’s important to offer the freshest coffee possible to our customers.  It may be surprising to know, the way coffee beans are packaged can influence its freshness, its aroma and flavour.

This is where single-way valves come in.

What are single-way coffee bag valves?

The Vibe Coffee bags have a built in, single-way valve which allows Vibe Coffee to pack roasted coffee beans right after the roasting process.

As soon as coffee beans are roasted, they release carbon dioxide and can do so for up to two weeks.  The single-way valve, allows for the carbon dioxide to be released from inside the sealed bag without allowing contaminants to enter in.

Contaminants can be a range of things:  oxygen, dust, or dirty air.   As soon as anything organic (such as coffee beans) are exposed to oxygen, a corrosive process begins to take place.  Think about what happens to a banana.  The exposure to oxygen can result in stale coffee beans.

Without the single-way valve, the continuous release of carbon dioxide would eventually create a leak in the coffee bag or the bag would simply break open, allowing oxygen (and other contaminants) in.

These single-way valves keep your Vibe Coffee Beans free from contaminants resulting in fresher coffee for a much longer time.

Decaf Coffee with full flavour

Very well priced beautiful full body taste. My husband can only drink decaffeinated coffee but you can't tell the difference. We have had plenty at Cafe's and we prefer to have one at home.

For orders below $54, a $7.50 delivery fee will apply for any location in Australia and Tasmania.

Delivery Timing:

Every order placed before 3 pm during a workday, is packed and ready to ship on the day it was ordered.  Vibe Coffee has worked hard to make this as fast as possible regardless of order volumes.

Vibe Coffee uses Australia Post who try to deliver products around the country within 2 to 4 days.   We are dependent on Australia Post keeping their promises.

Delivery timings for the Melbourne region may be faster because the Vibe Coffee manufacturing and distribution center is based in Melbourne.

If for any reason you are unhappy with the coffee you ordered, all you need to do is complete one simple step.

Email us at greatvibes.@vibecoffee.com.au, provide us your order number and give us a quick reason for being unhappy with our product.  We need this feedback to improve our products and services.

Once we receive your feedback, we will respond with two options…

  1. You can select another product that we will send to you at no charge to you (this includes delivery costs)
  2. Or if you prefer not to try another product, we will provide you a refund

Vibe is happy to give refund your money if the Coffee Bag is unopened and in saleable condition.

Vibe will reimburse you the funds in the same way you made the purchase.  For example, if you payed by using Afterpay, Vibe will credit your Afterpay account.

The most common reason people request a return is because the Vibe coffee pods do not fit into the coffee pod machine.  Vibe coffee pods are designed to fit all Nespresso® capsule system machines.
